MS of Mayo Hospital Lahore arrested in stent corruption scandal worth crores of rupees
LAHORE – Anti-corruption authorities detained Mayo Hospital Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Abdul Madbir Rehan for allegedly not appearing before an inquiry team probing serious allegations of corruption.
According to the anti-corruption spokesperson, the action was initiated after the complaint of Dr. Ahmed Kamal. After a video of alleged corruption at Mayo Hospital surfaced, officials launched a formal investigation into the matter.
Dr Mudbar Rehan was summoned to appear before the investigators but did not comply with the notice, officials said. He was subsequently taken into custody to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
The investigation gained momentum after CCTV footage of cash transactions inside the medical superintendent’s office allegedly went viral. According to the allegations under investigation, the person providing the money was a hospital vendor, while the cash was allegedly received by an MS employee in the presence of Dr Mudbar Rehan.

Investigators are probing the scandal involving the alleged disappearance of hospital stents worth crores of rupees from Mayo Hospital. Authorities are investigating whether the incidents are linked as part of wider financial irregularities.
An anti-corruption spokesperson confirmed that forensic examination of the video evidence and additional material is being collected. Officials said further legal action would be taken if evidence supported the allegations.
