Polling for the first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections has ended after a huge turnout extended voting by an hour. Ballot boxes have been sealed and counting of votes is now underway. The extension from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm allowed voters already in the queues to exercise their right to vote. Close contests are being seen in Mirpur, Bhimbar and Kotli, with PML-N, PPP, IPP, Jamaat-e-Islami and independent candidates competing for key seats.
