Pakistan and Kuwait are eyeing new investment drives as Prime Minister Shehbaz seeks ‘economic revival’
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah reiterated close strategic coordination on regional peace, economic cooperation and high-level diplomatic ties during talks in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The high-level meeting focused on the growing momentum in Pakistan-Kuwait relations amid regional uncertainty. While welcoming the Foreign Minister, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his best wishes for the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, calling Pakistan and Kuwait reliable partners and saying that they have brotherly relations.
Regional security remained under discussion as the prime minister reiterated Islamabad’s unwavering solidarity with Kuwait and other Gulf countries, strongly condemning attacks against friendly Gulf states during the ongoing regional dispute.
Sharif said Pakistan was committed to playing the role of an honest mediator and facilitator for peace, while thanking the Kuwaiti leadership for supporting Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions.
The two sides also focused on expanding economic cooperation, expressing a common commitment to open up new opportunities in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, information technology, maritime affairs and manpower development. The Prime Minister welcomed the positive outlook of the bilateral relations and emphasized on converting the political goodwill into a strong economic partnership.
Acknowledging the role of overseas Pakistanis, Shahbaz Sharif thanked the Kuwaiti government for hosting the Pakistani community and said that Pakistani workers are playing their valuable role in the economic and social development of Kuwait.
Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah reiterated his country’s commitment to expand cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister thanked Pakistan for its steadfastness for Kuwait in difficult times and also appreciated the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in promoting diplomacy and regional peace.
