Pakistan rejects ‘fabricated’ Indian report on Bahawalpur’s Subhan Allah Masjid
ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has dismissed as “false and misleading” an Indian media report on the reconstruction of Bahawalpur’s Subhanullah Mosque, claiming a massive government funding package.
Times of India And several other state-funded Indian media outlets reported that the mosque, which was allegedly destroyed during the Indo-Pak tensions in May last year, is now close to being completely rebuilt. Reports further claimed that the government of Pakistan had allocated Rs 250 million in public funds for reconstruction.
Pakistani officials categorically rejected the claim, calling the alleged government funding of 250 million rupees “fabricated and baseless”. The ministry said the reports were part of a broader effort to shape a specific narrative for the Indian audience and divert attention from the embarrassment India suffered after Pakistan’s harsh response during Operation Nishan-e-Haq.
The Indian media continues to portray events through the Indian government’s anti-Pakistan rhetoric, repeatedly changing the facts to support a pre-set narrative. He stressed that such claims cannot be a substitute for independently verifiable evidence.
The ministry targeted the recently released Operation Sindh documentary, accusing it of over-reliance on selective material, dramatic presentation and “Bollywood-style” treatment of events rather than facts and evidence.
He said the documentary and the Times of India’s latest report represented a continuation of what he described as a widespread practice of narrative construction, where unverified allegations are presented as allegedly established facts.
The ministry urged the media audience to exercise caution and stressed that claims, especially those that emerge amid India-Pakistan tensions, should be independently verified before being accepted or circulated.
India denied knowing about Pakistan’s nuclear facility in the Karana Hills, until its own general said so.
