LAHORE – Residents of Lahore and other cities of Punjab face unannounced load shedding during brutal weather, LESCO faces 1,000 MW power shortfall.
As the heatwave grips Lahore, citizens are facing yet another hardship as unannounced load-shedding has reportedly intensified across the city, forcing residents out of their homes amid hours-long power outages.
Electricity demand in the Lesco region reached about 5,200 MW, while available supply is about 4,200 MW, creating a large gap that is causing prolonged outages.
Residents say the situation has become particularly desperate in these areas where power returns only for a few minutes and then goes out for hours.
Residents in Lower Mall, Shahdara, township areas reported that power was restored for barely an hour and was unavailable for two hours. Frequent shutdowns disrupted household routines and people struggled to cope with the sweltering heat.
The problem is not limited to these areas. Residents of Harbanspora, Tajpura and Mughalpura are also reporting prolonged power outages while unannounced load shedding continues in Awan Town, Achhra, Muslim Town and Gulshan Ravi.
Similar complaints have come from Gulberg, Karim Park, Sanda and the Walled City of Lahore, where residents say power outages have become part of their daily routine.
With temperatures rising, citizens say the prolonged shutdown is making an already difficult situation worse. Families are facing difficulties managing normal household activities, while businesses are also facing disruptions due to frequent power cuts.
The power crisis has led to growing frustration among residents, who are questioning the continued outages despite severe weather conditions.
The citizens demanded the LESCO authorities to immediately end unannounced load shedding, remove supply shortfalls and ensure stable power supply in the affected areas.
