Karachi defense case involving relatives of SSP takes a turn after torture marks on victim’s body
The controversy over the defense apartment took another turn, with a medical examination allegedly revealing eight marks of physical violence on Noorul Ain’s body.
The dispute started over a parking dispute at a flat in Khayaban Bukhari, but has now sparked a police inquiry, questions over the presence of uniformed officers and a new legal battle between the two sides. According to the lawyer of the victim’s family, during the encounter, Ali Ahsan was allegedly dragged and beaten while Noorul Ain was also subjected to torture. The lawyer said that his medical examination showed eight marks of torture on his body.
The lawyer further claimed that charges related to robbery were initially included in the case against the family but were later replaced with provisions related to alleged quarrel. The case took another turn after the footage of the incident surfaced, with police officers present at the scene.
A letter has now been sent to identify the officers seen in the videos, with authorities checking where they are posted and who sent them to the location. The police say that the statements of the officials seen in the footage will also be recorded.
Police officials clarified that the officers seen in the footage do not belong to the South Zone. Investigators are now looking into whether they could be linked to Korangi district. Police said the double-cabin vehicle seen in a video does not belong to the South Police.
Earlier, Humira, who was allegedly tortured, had obtained interim bail from the Southern District Sessions Court. Meanwhile, Maryam Ali, said to be an influential woman, had registered a case against the family at Derakhshan police station, adding another legal dimension to the controversy.
The emergence of CCTV footage forced DIG South to take notice, police officials ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Officials said the circumstances surrounding the presence of police personnel, their deployment and their connection to the incident are being probed.
The police got all the details of the case registered in the Darakhshan police station. After the investigation is completed, officials said the challan will be submitted to the court.
