PTI faces legal challenge on September 27 long march as IHC hears key plea

ISLAMABAD – PTI’s September 27 protest has reached court as the Islamabad High Court is set to hear a plea to keep every road in the capital open and stop the alleged use of government machinery for political activities.

Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Islamabad High Court Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfaraz Dogar will hear the petition of citizen Waqas Ahmed, the schedule of which has been given by the court registrar. It is warned in the application that Imran Khan’s The party’s proposed protest and long march may affect traffic, business and daily life across Islamabad, especially as participants are expected to arrive from different parts of the country.

The petitioner pleaded with the court to order the authorities to ensure that all roads in Islamabad remain open on September 27, arguing that citizens, commuters and businessmen should not suffer due to political activities.

The petition also calls for a ban on the political use of government offices and state resources, arguing that government machinery should remain focused on constitutional and official duties. The petitioner also sought a declaration on the alleged political use of the Chief Minister’s office and asked the court to look into the matter.

Police chiefs of four provinces, Islamabad Police, Motorway Police and other relevant authorities have been made defendants in the case. The petitioner argues that the expected arrival of the protesters may cause major traffic disruptions and interfere with normal civic and commercial activities.

The PTI announced the Islamabad protest and long march on 27 September as a major political activity in support of its demands, particularly for Imran Khan’s medical check-up at a private hospital.
