Amid fresh hikes, petrol price crossed Rs 375.82, diesel crossed Rs 400
ISLAMABAD β There is no relief in sight for inflation-weary Pakistanis as the government has yet again hiked the prices of petroleum products.
The price of petrol has been increased by Rs 5.02 paise per litre, from Rs 370.80 to Rs 375.82 per litre. The price of High Speed ββDiesel (HSD) has also increased by Rs 5.28 per litre, reaching a new price of Rs 403.32 per litre, as against Rs 398.04 previously.

The revised rates will be effective from September 12, 2026.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices under the petroleum pricing mechanism issued by the federal government. The government attributed the increase to global factors, including changes in plate rates, premiums and other events.
So, when global markets move, so does the price at the fuel pump, once again, seemingly moving upwards.
For ordinary Pakistanis who are already struggling with rising prices of food, transport and household expenses, the latest hike means another blow to the monthly budget. Higher fuel prices can put further pressure on the prices of transportation and goods and services.
At this point, the question for consumers is no longer whether petrol prices will rise, but how high they intend to go before anyone makes a substantial decision.
