PML-N MNA Mehmood Bashir Vark breathed his last at the age of 89.
Gujranwala – Senior leader and current Member of National Assembly Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Vark passed away on Friday.
Work died after battling the disease for some time. The veteran politician was undergoing treatment in Lahore before his death. His family has not disclosed the exact nature of the illness.

Work was serving as the elected representative of NA-77 Gujranwala-I, a seat he won on a PML-N ticket in the 2024 general elections. He won by a significant margin of votes. Work secured 109,704 votes, defeating independent candidate Rashida Tariq, who secured 91,825 votes. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Imtiaz Safdar Waraich stood third with 17059 votes.
Work took oath as a member of the National Assembly and continued to represent Gujranwala as a Muslim League (N) legislator. His sudden death while serving as a sitting MNA has sent shock waves among party workers, political supporters and personalities associated with the constituency. As soon as the news of his death spread in Gujranwala, condolence started.

Work was associated with the PML-N for years and was among the party’s senior political figures in the region. His long political presence had made him a familiar and influential name in the political landscape of Gujranwala.
Details regarding his funeral and burial arrangements are expected to be announced by the family. As yet, the circumstances surrounding his illness remain largely unknown, with family sources only confirming that Work was undergoing treatment in Lahore before his death.
