Two Pakistanis including a Pakistani were injured when a Houthi drone was shot down in the city of Taif in Saudi Arabia.
TAIF — Saudi Arabia has been facing attacks by the Houthis, and now Saudi air defenses have intercepted and destroyed a drone that officials say was launched by Yemen’s Houthi movement.
But the danger did not end with the barrier. As the drone crashed in the sky, debris fell on populated areas of Taif, killing one Yemeni and injuring two others, according to Saudi Civil Defense.

The injured include a Saudi woman and a Pakistani citizen, among whom the condition of the Pakistani citizen is critical. However, fragments of the crashed plane fell in several places in Taif, hitting urban areas and damaging houses, buildings and vehicles.

Emergency teams responded to affected areas as officials assessed the damage and dealt with casualties.
The incident has drawn renewed attention to the dangers posed by cross-border drone strikes, where even a successful interception can create a secondary threat if falling debris reaches populated areas.
According to the Saudi authorities, the Pakistani national was taken to the hospital after the incident and his condition is critical. A Saudi woman was also injured.
The attempted attack on Taif comes amid a sharp escalation in fighting between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi movement. Saudi authorities have reported a series of recent drone and missile threats targeting areas of the kingdom. Reuters reported that the latest violence has intensified fighting between Houthi forces and Saudi-backed Yemeni forces.
