The Centaurus site is facing CDA action after the temporary permission expired.
ISLAMABAD – The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has canceled permission for an eight-kanal temporary site attached to Centaurus Mall, citing delay in approval and alleged violations, and ordered the management to vacate the land within seven days.
The action was taken after the CDA inspected an area of about 8 kanals near Plot No. 1, where the authorities alleged that the land was being used for various activities which were not under the original approval.
According to CDA’s notice dated September 11, 2026, the site was initially permitted for a temporary site and marketing offices attached to the plot. However, officials said that no approved marketing offices were found during their inspection.
Instead, the authority reported finding container-based accommodation for workers, toilets, a makeshift mosque, badminton courts and construction materials on the premises.
The CDA maintained that these activities were outside the permitted use of the site and were in violation of the conditions attached to the provisional approval.
Two years of permission expired
The authority said that the temporary permission was granted for a period of two years but it had expired. With no renewal, the CDA has now canceled the permission with immediate effect and ordered the management to vacate the premises.
The financial liability attached to the order is also significant as the administration is directed to pay Rs 48.45 million towards outstanding dues.
The administration has been given seven days from receipt of CDA’s notice to vacate the premises and vacate the land. The authority has warned that non-compliance within the stipulated period may result in the CDA itself taking action to vacate the site. According to the notice, any such operation will be done at the risk and expense of the management.
Despite the development, the CDA’s action does not amount to closure or cancellation of Centaurus Mall. The notice specifically relates to the temporary site in the Blue Area and the permit associated with its use. The order does not direct the closure of the mall’s core business operations.
