NADRA says married women can now apply for CNIC with computerized marriage certificate.

ISLAMABAD – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a special facility for married women seeking a computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), allowing eligible applicants to use a computerized Nikah Nama (marriage certificate) where a birth certificate is not available.

Under this facility, women aged 18 years or above can apply for their CNIC despite not having a birth certificate, subject to verification requirements prescribed by NADRA.

A computerized marriage certificate may be submitted as part of the registration process for married women. NADRA has also made biometric verification mandatory as per the announced procedure, which requires verification from the applicant’s husband or parents.

The initiative aims to facilitate women who face difficulties in obtaining identity documents due to gaps in civil registration records.

NADRA also announced a separate procedure for unmarried women aged 18 years and above who do not have a birth certificate. Such applicants must have CNIC of parent, sister or brother, while the concerned family member must accompany the applicant for biometric verification.

As per the official announcement of NADRA, the special registration facility is time bound and will be available till 31 December 2026.

The authority has advised eligible women to approach NADRA registration centers with the required documents and complete the prescribed biometric verification process to get their identity cards.

NADRA has introduced the facility of updating identity records at home through the Pak ID app
