Relief to Taxpayers, Income Tax Return Deadline Extended to October 15

ISLAMABAD – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing income tax returns for the tax year 2026, giving taxpayers additional time to complete and file their returns.

As per FBR Circular No. 3 of 2026-27, the last date has been extended from 30 September 2026 to 15 October 2026. The extension applies to individuals who were required to file their income tax returns by September 30, 2026.

The FBR said the decision was taken in view of requests received from various trade bodies and tax bar associations, giving taxpayers an additional 15 days to complete their filing requirements.

The decision has brought relief to taxpayers who were facing difficulties in filing their returns before the original date of September 30.

The FBR issued the extension under the powers conferred by Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

Now with a revised deadline of October 15, 2026, taxpayers covered by the extension can use the additional time to complete their income tax returns and meet their filing obligations for tax year 2026.
