PTI-KP President Junaid Akbar GB arrested during election campaign

Gilgit-Baltistan – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar Khan was arrested during election campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to reports, Junaid Akbar Khan was detained by the Gilgit-Baltistan Police from the Hunza area when he was visiting the area for election activities. He said that he was asked to leave Gilgit due to no objection certificate (NOC).

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gauhar condemned the arrest and ban of Junaid Akbar, calling it unacceptable and an act of pre-poll rigging.

People should be allowed to travel freely across the country, he said, adding that restricting political space in Gilgit-Baltistan would harm democracy.

Barrister Gauhar urged the Election Commission to ensure equal opportunities for all parties during the election campaign.
