Inflation in Pakistan hit a 23-month high in May.
ISLAMABAD – According to the latest monthly report released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, inflation in Pakistan reached a 23-month high in May.
Inflation in May recorded the highest increase since June 2024, up 0.52 percent from April, the report said.
It further revealed that the year-on-year inflation rate rose to 11.66 percent in May 2026, from just 3.5 percent in May 2025.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, the average inflation rate from July 2025 to May 2026 was 6.69 percent, while in April 2026, the annual inflation rate was recorded at 10.89 percent.
The report also highlighted regional differences, noting that monthly inflation rose by 0.30 percent in rural areas in May 2026, while urban areas saw a sharp increase of 0.68 percent.
Annual inflation was 11.48 percent in rural areas and 11.79 percent in urban centers.
