Record e-challan defaulter arrested in Lahore with a fine of over 20 lakh rupees
LAHORE – The Lahore Traffic Police arrested a motorcyclist carrying a staggering load of unpaid e-challans worth over Rs 2.08 million.
The accused, identified as Baz Muhammad, was nabbed during a routine operation by the traffic police and while verifying the vehicles, officials found that 421 vehicles, including motorcycles and rickshaws, were registered in Baz Muhammad’s name.
Police records show that vehicles belonging to the suspect racked up Rs 2,088,800 in unpaid e-challan fines, making him one of the biggest traffic fine defaulters ever by city traffic cops.
After confirmation, the traffic police seized the motorcycle used by the accused and transferred it to the Muslim Town police station, while further legal and administrative proceedings were initiated.
The CTO said authorities have now blacklisted all vehicles registered in Baz Muhammad’s name, effectively restricting his ability to avail various registration and transfer related services until the arrears are paid.
The dramatic case comes amid a city-wide aggressive campaign against serial traffic violators. CTO Rahim Shirazi revealed that the Lahore Traffic Police has already blacklisted more than 1 lakh vehicles and motorcycles on e-challans free of charge as authorities tighten the net against repeat violators.
Officials said the operation sends a clear message that mounting e-challan fines can no longer be ignored, as digital tracking and enforcement mechanisms continue to identify habitual violators in the provincial capital.
