Announcement of new working hours of schools in Punjab from August 24. Check the notification.
Lahore – Department of School Education Punjab announced the revision on Friday. Times For public and private schools across the province, the new schedule will come into effect from August 24, 2026.
The notification shared by SED said that all government and private schools across Punjab will function from Monday to Friday under the revised schedule. For single-shift schools, classes will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue until 1:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. On Friday, schools will operate from 8:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
The department has also issued separate timings for double shift and afternoon schools. The morning shift will run Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 12:30pm, while Friday hours will be from 8:00am to 12:00pm.
In double shift schools, the evening shift will operate from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday. Friday evening shift will start at 2:00 PM and end at 5:30 PM.

The notification also provides for an adjustment of 15 minutes for girls’ schools. Girls’ schools will open 15 minutes earlier than boys’ schools and close 15 minutes earlier. However, the Chief Executive Officers (DEAs) concerned have been empowered to adjust the gap of 15 minutes as per local convenience.
Government schools will be closed on Saturday, while the revised timings will remain in effect till October 15, 2026.
The School Education Department has directed all Chief Executive Officers (DEAs) across Punjab to ensure that the new schedule is fully implemented.
The revised schedule comes as schools across Punjab prepare to resume regular operations from August 24 following the department’s decision to maintain Monday-Friday school week.
