E-challan system for lane violation on Sharia Faisal from June 1

KARACHI – The Karachi Traffic Police has announced that the e-challan system for lane violations on Shaara Faisal will start from June 1.

According to the traffic police spokesperson, drivers who do not follow the lane rules on this major road will receive an e-challan.

Citizens are advised to strictly follow lane discipline while driving. All vehicles must stay in their designated lane, including motorcycles, buses and cars.

This step is part of the new traffic management plan introduced by DIG Traffic Pir Mohammad Shah. The project aims to improve traffic flow by enforcing proper lane usage through existing surveillance cameras.

Initially, the system will be implemented on Sharia Faisal, where the required infrastructure is already in place.

Under the new rules, motorcycles, buses, rickshaws and other light transport vehicles will use the two left lanes. The remaining lanes will be reserved for high-speed vehicles such as cars and double-cabin vehicles.

Violations will be detected by cameras, and e-challans will be issued automatically. Fines are fixed based on the type of vehicle, motorcycles and rickshaws are fined Rs 2,500 and buses are fined Rs 7,500.
