Explosions are heard in Tehran as Israel rejects Trump’s calls for restraint.
TEHRAN – Israel and Iran exchanged fresh military actions as reports of loud explosions hit several Iranian cities, including Tehran, Tabriz and Isfahan, following alleged Israeli airstrikes.
According to local and international media reports, several explosions were heard in different parts of Iran, especially in the capital Tehran.
According to the report, the Israeli attacks were carried out a day after Iran fired ballistic missiles towards northern Israel. Tehran described its missile launches as a response to Israeli actions in Lebanon and a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Reports indicated that the Israeli military action was carried out despite US calls for restraint. US President Donald Trump reportedly urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to help contain the situation and avoid further escalation.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said Iran had fired missiles toward Israeli territory, triggering warning sirens in several areas of the country. Israeli officials said the launch was the first missile attack by Iran since the implementation of the ceasefire.
Israel’s Home Front Command has announced that schools across the country will remain closed on Monday following a security review. Officials also said restrictions on public activities would remain in place due to the evolving situation.
The Israeli military further claimed that Iran launched a second wave of missiles shortly after the initial attack. Israeli defense systems detected and intercepted incoming threats, officials said.
Separately, reports suggested that President Trump informed Israeli leaders that the United States would not participate in any unilateral Israeli military operations against Iran. According to media reports, Trump and Netanyahu discussed recent developments during a telephone conversation after the missile exchange.
Israeli sources said that Netanyahu briefed the US President on Israel’s position regarding Iran’s possible response. Trump reportedly reiterated that Washington would not participate in such action if Israel chose to proceed independently.
In a separate interview, Trump emphasized that the United States is interested in continuing diplomatic relations with Tehran despite recent tensions. He said that political solution is the preferred way to achieve long-term regional stability.
The US president also suggested that Israeli leaders may eventually need to accept a deal to ease tensions. But he warned that if diplomatic efforts failed, Washington could consider other options, including limited military action.
