Reports claimed that candidates for chairman posts would require a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, while candidates for councilor posts would require an FA qualification. Reports also alleged that candidates will have to submit character certificates.

The spokesperson of the Provincial Election Commissioner clarified that the claims are false. The Election Commission has neither issued any notification nor introduced any guidelines requiring educational qualifications or character certificates for candidates in local body elections.

The ECP spokesperson urged the public and those interested in contesting local body elections not to rely on unverified information circulating on social media.

The spokesman advised the voters and potential candidates to get information related to the election only from the official sources of the Election Commission.
