Iran thanked Pakistan for its key role in the historic peace deal.
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pizshakyan held their first telephone conversation after signing the Islamabad Peace Accord, reiterating their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and regional peace.
According to the statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, this call continued for more than 30 minutes. During the conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated President Pizshakyan, the Iranian leadership and the Iranian people on the historic agreement, saying that it will contribute to regional stability, support Iran’s reconstruction efforts and deepen cooperation between Pakistan and Iran in various fields.
The Prime Minister also expressed his congratulations and best wishes to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.
Appreciating Iran’s decision to sign the peace agreement, Shahbaz Sharif expressed hope for the success of the next phase of negotiations and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to Iran’s full support as a brotherly neighbor in all areas of mutual interest.

President Pizshakyan thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their role in facilitating the mediation process and described their efforts as skillful, sincere and wise. He said that Iran will always value Pakistan’s cooperation in achieving the agreement.
The Iranian President appreciated Pakistan’s constructive support in difficult times and said that Iran is keen to expand bilateral relations with Pakistan in all areas of mutual interest.
The two leaders agreed to exchange visits to each other’s capitals at a mutually convenient opportunity and stay in close contact to further advance bilateral cooperation and regional connectivity.
