Karachi Weather Update: Realfelt temperature above 40 degrees Celsius amid humid conditions

KARACHI – Sindh’s capital city was gripped by scorching heat as humid conditions pushed the city’s temperature to 41 degrees Celsius amid the ongoing heat wave across the country.

According to weather data, the actual temperature in the metropolis reached 37 degrees Celsius, while the humidity level rose to around 52-56 percent. The heat index was recorded at 44°C, indicating potentially hazardous conditions for outdoor exposure.

The PMD shows partly sunny skies, with west-southwest winds blowing at 33 kmph. The dew point stood at 25°C, indicating very humid conditions, while visibility was reduced to 5 km.

The PMD has already issued a heatwave alert for several parts of the country, warning that the current spell is expected to continue till June 12. A persistent high pressure system is pushing temperatures well above the seasonal average, with some areas expected to rise up to 7 degrees Celsius above normal, the department said.

In Karachi, the intensity of the weather has been maintained for several days. Just a day earlier, the city’s heat index had climbed to 48 degrees Celsius, indicating the intensity of the ongoing hot weather.

The Meteorological Department has forecast Karachi’s daytime temperature to range between 40°C and 43°C till June 12, while nighttime temperatures are also expected to remain high, limiting comfort for residents after sunset.

Officials urged citizens to take precautions, especially children, women and the elderly who are at high risk of heat-related illnesses. Residents are advised to avoid direct sunlight between 10 am and 4 pm, stay well hydrated and minimize unnecessary outdoor activities during peak summer hours.
