Petrol price in Pakistan is set to fall to around Rs 370 from June 6 as fresh relief is announced.

LAHORE – A sigh of relief for inflation-weary Pakistanis as global oil prices show signs of easing, with petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan set to drop to around Rs 370 per liter from June 6.

After months of wildly fluctuating fuel prices that have strained the budget, this latest cut marks the fourth price cut for commuters, transporters and ordinary citizens who are closely watching every change at the fuel pumps.

Official sources said that Pakistanis will see a reduction in petrol prices by Rs 10 per liter and high speed diesel (HSD) by Rs 30 per litre. The revised rates approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif under the weekly pricing mechanism linked to global crude oil trends are expected to be implemented across the country after an official notification is issued by the Petroleum Division.

With the revised changes, petrol is expected to drop from Rs 381.78 to Rs 371.78 per liter while diesel is expected to fall to Rs 350.78 per liter from Rs 380.78.

At the start of 2026, petrol was relatively manageable at Rs 253.17 per liter in January. However, this calm was quickly shattered when prices began to rise sharply in mid-February, rising sharply by March and reaching around Rs 321 per liter by early March amid global pressure and geopolitical tensions.

On April 3, petrol prices hit an all-time high of Rs 458.40 per litre, the highest ever in Pakistan, causing panic among transporters, businesses and households already struggling with inflation. Diesel was hit even harder, increasing by over Rs 520 per liter at its peak, sharply increasing the cost of logistics and movement of goods across the country.

Although prices fluctuated briefly in May, stability remained. At one point, petrol once again crossed Rs 414 per liter before easing towards the end of the month, eventually settling near Rs 381.78 per liter by May 29.

Despite periodic relief measures and reforms, 2026 has so far been characterized by extreme volatility in fuel prices. The journey from Rs 253.17 in January to Rs 458.40 in April is one of the fastest and most volatile fuel cycles in Pakistan’s recent history.
