PM Shahbaz urges Turkish investors to provide energy, IT and mining opportunities in Pakistan
ISTANBUL – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, speaking to Turkish investors, urged business leaders to take advantage of emerging opportunities in Pakistan as he vowed to take Pakistan-Turkey economic partnership to “new heights”.
During meetings with leading Turkish investors in Istanbul, the prime minister invited companies to expand their presence in Pakistan, highlighting lucrative opportunities in energy, mining, information technology, infrastructure, special economic zones (SEZs) and the government’s privatization programme.

Sharif arrived in Turkey on an official visit at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the focus of which was to strengthen strategic ties, promote trade and investment, and review important regional and global developments.
At Istanbul Airport, Turkish Minister of Trade Umar Bulat, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Dr. Yusuf Junaid and senior officials of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the Prime Minister. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Ataullah Tarar are accompanying the Prime Minister in the visit.

According to an official statement, Prime Minister Shahbaz and President ErdoΔan are expected to hold comprehensive talks covering trade, defense cooperation, investment and other strategic areas. The two leaders will also discuss regional peace, security challenges and important international developments.
A highlight of the visit will be the prime minister’s address at a high-level business conference, where Turkish investors, corporate executives, and senior government officials will explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s priority sectors. The forum is expected to serve as a platform to forge new trade partnerships and encourage more Turkish investment in the country’s expanding economy.
As Pakistan seeks to position itself as a preferred destination for foreign investors, the government has pushed for reforms aimed at improving the business environment and accelerating investment-led growth.
Pakistan and Turkey have decades of close political, strategic and cultural ties, with cooperation in defense, trade, investment and regional diplomacy gradually expanding.
Business relations included in the agenda, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will leave for Turkey today.
