According to budget documents, the proposed allocation covers the cost of 349 security personnel deployed for VIP protection. Of the total amount, Rs 190 million is earmarked for allowances of officers and personnel performing security and protocol duties, while Rs 132.9 million is earmarked for their salaries.

The VIP security force consists of 15 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors, one SP, two DSPs, three assistant officers and ten inspectors. The force also includes 71 head constables and 173 constables assigned security duties.

The massive allocation draws attention as Punjab prepares its spending plans for the new fiscal year amid austerity measures, with questions expected over the balance between security spending and funding for public services. The proposed security budget will be subject to legislative scrutiny as part of the broader provincial budget process.
