A statue of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, was unveiled at the Pakistani embassy during the Independence Day celebrations. The tribute reflects his enduring legacy and carries a strong message of national pride for Pakistanis at home and abroad.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Rizwan Saeed Sheikh unveiled the statue during the Independence Day celebrations at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington. The ceremony was attended by members of the Pakistani-American community, diplomats and media representatives.
The statue was gifted to the Embassy by the Quaid-e-Azam Foundation in Houston and will now reside permanently at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington.
His arrival is even more meaningful as Pakistan is gearing up for the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. For a nation built through a long political struggle, sacrifices and an unwavering dream of freedom, the statue stands as a powerful reminder of where Pakistan came from, and of the ideals that shaped its creation.
The Independence Day celebration started with the hoisting of the national flag of Pakistan. The ceremony featured the presentation of the National Anthem, recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and reading of the Independence Day messages of the President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan.
As the green and white flag rose in Washington, the ceremony evoked a familiar feeling for Pakistanis everywhere – the emotional pull of home.
For those living thousands of miles away, national events are often more than just celebrations. They are about memories: family, childhood, the sound of the national anthem, the sight of the crescent and star, and the sense of belonging to something greater than oneself.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam’s political struggle and his years of efforts for the establishment of Pakistan. The statue now provides a permanent reminder of this struggle within Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in the United States. But his message reaches beyond history.
It speaks to younger generations of Pakistani-Americans who may have been born far away from Pakistan but carry their language, culture, traditions and identity with them.
The ceremony also highlighted the continued importance of Pakistan-US relations. Ambassador Shaikh pointed to the cooperation between the two countries in several fields and emphasized the importance of Pakistan to the United States at the regional and global levels.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in his Independence Day message to Pakistan also highlighted areas of cooperation including regional mediation, critical minerals, energy, counter-terrorism, cultural heritage, trade and investment. Pakistan’s diplomatic role in the region has also gained attention, especially amid tensions between the United States and Iran.
Islamabad has sought to improve its relations with both Washington and Tehran by encouraging dialogue, facilitating communication and reducing tensions.
