‘Sacred trust must be upheld’: PAF chief reiterates commitment to Pakistan’s defense
ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Air Force observed September 7 as Martyrs’ Day at its airbases across the country, paying tribute to the brave personnel who made eternal sacrifices in defense of the motherland.
In the ceremony, a special prayer and Quran was recited for the martyrs of the 1965 and 1971 wars, the martyred heroes of Nishan-e-Haq and all the Pakistan Air Force personnel who lost their lives during the performance of their duties since the establishment of Pakistan.
The main event was held at Air Headquarters Islamabad in which Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu attended as the chief guest. Paying tributes to the martyred heroes, the Air Chief said that their great sacrifices are the foundation of Pakistan Air Force’s proud traditions, courage, professionalism and unwavering commitment to national defence.
The Air Chief asserted that the bravery of the forefathers of the nation is not just a chapter of history but a living legacy that inspires the present generation. “The PAF martyrs are eternal symbols of courage, sacrifice and national resolve,” he said, adding that their legacy serves as a constant reminder that defense of the motherland is a sacred trust.
He vowed that the defenders of the nation will continue to discharge this sacred responsibility with steadfastness, determination and unwavering determination.
The ceremony also paid homage to the martyrs where Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu laid wreaths and recited Fatiha to raise the ranks of PAF martyrs.
The nationwide celebration highlighted PAF’s continued commitment to pay tribute to those who laid down their lives for Pakistan and preserve the legacy of courage and devotion passed down through the generations.
