Schools in Punjab will reopen for summer camps from June 1.
LAHORE – The Department of School Education Punjab has officially allowed private schools to conduct summer camps across the province, with a detailed set of guidelines governing their timings, structure and conditions.
The notification states that the summer camps will be held for one month from June 1 to June 30, and will run only in the morning hours between 7 am to 10 am. The schedule will be limited to Monday through Thursday, while Friday is designated as a weekly holiday.

The notification said that the authorities allowed setting up of summer camps in government and private schools for co-curricular activities during summer vacations.

Summer camps can be held from Monday to Thursday only. Friday will be a holiday. Timings can be held between 07:00 AM to 10:00 AM only. No extra/additional fees will be charged by private schools for these summer camps.
Government School/Teacher Fee Policy: No tuition fee will be charged from students by government schools and teachers. School management should ensure that all activities/classes are conducted in classrooms/indoors. Attendance at summer camp is not mandatory for students.
Parental consent will be required. School management should ensure availability of basic essential amenities, including sanitation, clean and cold water, fans, adequate seating arrangements and back-up electricity.
The school administration should ensure that a first aid box with necessary supplies is available. All participants are exempt from wearing uniforms. They will dress according to the weather.
The notification has further relaxed the dress code conditions, stating that students will not be required to wear school uniform during the camps and can wear clothes suitable for the weather conditions. Also, the school management has been directed to ensure the availability of necessary facilities including cold water, adequate fans, and basic first aid arrangements to deal with any emergency that may arise during the camp hours.
The Education Department has warned that strict action will be taken against any institution violating these guidelines, indicating that compliance will be strictly monitored throughout the month-long programme.
