Shivlika Oberoi defends Katrina Kaif against post-pregnancy body shaming.
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif married actor Vicky Kaushal in December 2021 and the couple welcomed their son Vihaan on 7 November 2025.
After giving birth, Katrina stayed out of the public eye for several months. She made her first public appearance on 26 August when she attended the funeral of filmmaker Coco Kohli with her husband.
Her appearance has attracted a lot of attention on social media, with recent photos and videos going viral. While many users congratulated and wished Katrina on becoming a mother, others mocked her for her post-pregnancy weight gain and body changes.
Katrina and Vicky chose not to respond to the trolling. However, several co-stars came to her defense and urged social media users to show more sensitivity and respect towards women after childbirth.
Actress Shivalika Oberoi also defended Katrina and criticized those who made fun of her looks and termed such attitudes as very ridiculous.
Sharing a picture of Katrina, Shivlika said that it is inappropriate to criticize the natural changes that women undergo after becoming a mother.
“What’s up folks? This is motherhood,” Shivleka wrote, stressing that postpartum recovery is different for every woman and can include bloating, fatigue and other physical changes.
She also urged people to stop promoting unrealistic ideals of motherhood in which a woman’s body is expected to instantly return to its pre-pregnancy shape.
Shivaleka emphasizes that a woman’s body does not need to return to its former shape immediately after childbirth and that women should not be ashamed of these natural changes during recovery.
Shivaleka herself became a mother a few months ago, and so her comments have also been seen as a reflection of her own postpartum experience and support for women going through similar transitions.
It was Katrina’s last film. Merry Christmasin which she starred opposite Vijay Sethupathi. This movie was released in 2024.
Since becoming a mother, Katrina has limited her professional commitments and mostly focused on her personal life and her newborn son.
