Student arrested for using AI to poison father
LAHORE – The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a student in Bahawalpur for allegedly taking instructions on how to prepare poison from Artificial Intelligence (AI).
NCCIA Punjab acted on a tip-off from abroad which led to the arrest of the young accused who had allegedly tried to poison his father.
According to the agency, the student, who was allegedly inspired by crime dramas, had set up a laboratory at his home to prepare toxic substances.
The accused allegedly procured chemical material from Australia and Islamabad and used it in the preparation of poison.
After the first attempt to poison his father failed, the suspect allegedly turned to the AI system again for further guidance on how to prepare the substance.
The NCCIA director ordered the action following intelligence received from abroad, which led to the arrest of the accused.
The incident has raised concerns about the potential misuse of artificial intelligence and the need for greater monitoring and awareness of children’s online activities.
