The federal cabinet approved the new local government system of Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD – The federal cabinet has approved the introduction of local government system in Islamabad.

According to sources, the Islamabad Local Government Bill will be presented to the Senate Standing Committee on Interior tomorrow for approval.

The proposed local government system will consist of three constituencies. The membership of the Council will include General Counselors, representation of women and minorities.

After the approval of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior, the bill will be presented to the Senate and the National Assembly for final approval.
