The weather in different parts of Punjab became pleasant due to rain and wind.

LAHORE – Heavy rain and hail followed by gusty winds hit Lahore and several cities of Punjab on Thursday evening after a day of intense heat, bringing much relief from the scorching heat of the weather.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain in different areas of Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the next few hours.

Lahore, Patuki, Narowal and other cities experienced heavy rains and hailstorms which reduced the heat wave significantly.

For the past several days, the heat wave was continuing in many cities, the heat of the sun was intense. However, the temperature dropped after the rain.

Strong winds prevailed before the rains in Lahore and surrounding areas due to which trees and electric poles were reported to have fallen at several places.

The meteorological department has predicted that rain may occur in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree and nearby areas after the intense heat of the day.

On the other hand, Kirk and adjacent areas recorded rain with gusty winds, which brought down the temperature and brought a pleasant change in the weather.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued an alert for possible torrential rains and hail from today.

According to the PDMA, there is a possibility of thundershowers in the upper districts of Malakand and Hazara divisions.

Chitral, Dir, Swat and Abbottabad are also likely to witness heavy rains and hailstorms, leading to landslides and flash floods.

PDMA has further warned that Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan may be affected by strong winds and rain, directing all concerned departments to remain on high alert.
