Transport fares have been reduced by 15% following the reduction in the prices of petroleum products.

LAHORE: After a significant reduction in the prices of petroleum products across the country, the authorities have decided to reduce the transport fares, giving a big relief to the public.

The decision was taken during a meeting with the transport department’s C-class stand management and transporters, where officials directed the stakeholders to provide maximum relief to the passengers. Officials stressed that passengers should take full advantage of the reduction in POL (petrol, oil, and lubricants) prices.

As a result, public transport fares have been reduced by 15%. The Pakistan Goods Transport Association has also announced a 15 percent reduction in freight charges, a move expected to reduce the cost of transporting goods.

Similarly, Punjab Goods Transport Association has also confirmed a 15% reduction in transport fares across the province.

Transport fares in Pakistan are closely linked to fluctuating fuel prices, which the government periodically revises in line with global oil market trends. In recent weeks, falling petroleum prices have given authorities room to adjust fares downward. Transport costs have a direct impact on both daily commuters and the prices of essential goods, making such reductions critical to controlling inflationary pressures.

Officials hoped that the fare reduction would provide meaningful relief to the public by reducing travel costs and indirectly easing living expenses.
