US Ambassador Vitkov and Iranian FM Araghchi will meet in Switzerland for talks.

WASHINGTON – According to reports, US Ambassador Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are on their way to Switzerland for talks.

According to the American website Axios, Steve Wittkoff will attend the high-level meeting in Switzerland, while Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, is already there.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is also expected to arrive in Switzerland on Saturday.

The development comes a day after US Vice President JD Vance canceled a visit to Switzerland due to clashes between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The situation changed after the 14-point interim agreement was reached between the parties, under which the parties were given 60 days to deal with Iran’s nuclear program and other complicated regional disputes.

Earlier, US Vice President JD Vance’s departure for Switzerland was postponed.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said Iran is ready to make gradual progress toward an agreement with the United States, provided Washington shows seriousness and ensures Israel adheres to the terms of the memorandum of understanding on Lebanon.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Khatibzadeh said that Iran sees diplomacy as the only way forward, but added that the United States must ensure that Israel permanently halts its actions and abides by the agreement.

The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister has condemned the recent Israeli attacks in Lebanon and warned that the ongoing military operations by Israel could lead to serious and immediate consequences.
