US Vice President Vance has postponed a visit to Switzerland for peace talks with Iran.

WASHINGTON – US Vice President JD Vance has canceled his scheduled visit to Switzerland to begin talks on the implementation of the 14-point agreement reached between the US and Iran to end the war.

“As the vice president stated in his press conference, plans for future technical discussions have not been finalized, and the US delegation is prepared to depart at the earliest available opportunity,” a White House spokesman confirmed.

“But the logistics of these negotiations have never been simple or predictable. Yet the vice president is not leaving tonight.

“As soon as we have a concrete update on next steps we will let you know.”

US officials recently indicated that a formal ceremony to finalize the deal between Washington and Tehran would take place in Geneva. However, Iran’s foreign ministry questioned the need for such a ceremony, saying the agreement had already been signed by the presidents of the two countries on Wednesday.

Although Iran had earlier signaled its willingness to proceed with technical-level talks after a 60-day extension to the fragile ceasefire, uncertainty remains over the next phase of the talks. Earlier on Thursday, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that Iranian officials were waiting for concrete evidence that the United States was living up to its commitments under the interim agreement before resuming negotiations. The report also said that there was no confirmed decision regarding the visit of Iran’s negotiating team to Geneva.
