10 children burnt in a school van fire in Murree.

Murree – Ten school children were injured when a van carrying students went off the road and caught fire near Lower Mohra Bara Hotar in Murree.

According to Rescue 1122, the van went out of control and fell down the side of the road before catching fire. According to reports, children of private and government schools were traveling in the vehicle.

As soon as the accident was reported, the rescue teams reached the spot and took out all the children from the van.

The injured were given first aid before being shifted to Civil Hospital, Murree. Some of the children were later shifted to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi for further treatment.

Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi said that 10 children were burnt and injured in the incident, but their condition is said to be out of danger.

The fire fighting team of Rescue 1122 also brought the fire under control.

There have been incidents of school transport accidents involving fires and collisions in Pakistan over the years. In 2014, a school van collided with a dumper in Nawabshah, killing 18 students and three teachers, while in 2013, a school bus caught fire near Gujarat, killing 16 children and a female teacher and injuring seven others.

More recently, a school van in Rawalpindi caught fire after a diesel leak in 2023, but all students and the driver escaped unhurt. In 2024, around 20 students were evacuated safely after a school van caught fire due to a short circuit in Jhelum.

In another incident in 2025, a school van collided with a truck during heavy fog, killing two students and injuring 23 people, including the driver.
