14 prisoners escaped from the van during transfer to Adiala Jail
Kahota – Fourteen prisoners escaped from a jail van in Kahota while they were being shifted to Adiala Jail after appearing in court.
According to police sources, when the prison van was stopped for a routine security check, one of the prisoners threw chilli powder in the eyes of the policemen, from which several prisoners escaped.
The police immediately launched a search operation in the entire area and managed to recapture the four escaped prisoners.
The authorities have sealed all the entrances and exits of Kahota while an extensive search operation is underway. A heavy police force has also been deployed to search for the remaining absconding accused.
Rawalpindi police confirmed that four of the escaped prisoners had been recaptured and said efforts were on to nab the others.
