Alleged rape of a mentally challenged girl in Kahna area of Lahore, accused arrested
LAHORE – A mentally challenged girl was allegedly raped in Kahana area of Lahore, the police arrested the accused immediately after the incident.
According to police sources, the victim had gone to buy bread from a nearby tandoor when the accused, identified as Zeeshan, allegedly kidnapped her and took her to an unknown location where he sexually assaulted her before escaping.
After receiving the report, the police started an immediate investigation, got the CCTV footage from the area and identified the accused and arrested him.
Model Town SP Asad Ali said that in the CCTV footage, the accused was also caught fleeing from the spot. He further said that immediate action was taken after the complaint filed by the victim’s father.
A case has been registered against the suspect, and the investigation has been handed over to the gender cell, the officer said. He emphasized that there will be no leniency with those involved in the exploitation of women.
SP Asad Ali said that the accused will be dealt with strictly according to law and justice will be assured to the victim.
Police have started further investigation while the victim is being medically examined.
