A load shedding schedule was announced to cut power for 10 hours on July 1.

LAHORE – There is a double whammy for those already struggling with soaring temperatures as K-Electric today announced suspension of power supply in several parts of Karachi due to scheduled maintenance work.

The power utility said maintenance activities will begin at 8:00 a.m. Power is expected to be unavailable at most affected feeders until 6:00 p.m., leaving thousands of customers without power during the hottest hours of the day.

The affected areas include KCHS-D, Makkah Square (Johar Road), Steelx, Gulshan Zubaidah, Green Park City, Northern Bypass, Shadman Town, Pakistan Bazar, Old Thana RMU, Quetta Town, KDA Employees Society, King Residency, Navy Merchant CHS, Usman Trace and many other local institutions.

The areas affected by K-Electric’s restoration are:

KCHS-D
Makkah Square (Johar Road)
Steelx
Gulshan Zubaidah
Green Park City
Northern Bypass
Shadman Town
Pakistan Bazaar
Old Police Station RMU
Quetta Town
KDA Employees Society
King Residency
Navy Merchant CHS

The schedule outages come as Karachi continues to experience intense heat, with prolonged power outages posing an additional challenge to residents who rely on electricity for cooling, water supply and other essential household needs.

K-Electric maintained that the shutdown is being carried out for maintenance to improve the reliability and stability of the power distribution network. The utility advised customers in the affected areas to plan their day accordingly and make necessary arrangements to minimize inconvenience during the scheduled outage.
