PTI withdrew from Azad Kashmir elections due to unfair political environment

Muzaffarabad – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a boycott of the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, saying that it will not participate in the election process under the current circumstances.

The major opposition party immediately suspended all recommendations of its parliamentary board on distribution of election tickets. PTI also confirmed that the issuance of party tickets and all election-related activities have been suspended till further notice.

Terming the current situation as “abnormal”, the PTI said the party would not make further progress at any stage of the election process. Stressed on resolving the issues of Azad Jammu and Kashmir through dialogue and mutual understanding and demanded a review of the election schedule.

The party demanded a free, fair and equal playing field for all political parties and said that it will not be part of the electoral process until a peaceful and transparent political environment is ensured.

Reaffirming its stand, the PTI said that its political struggle for the democratic rights of the Kashmiri people will continue despite the decision to stay out of the elections in the current circumstances.
