Members of the Prohibited Action Committee abducted four AJK policemen in Rawalkot.

Muzaffarabad – Four Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) police personnel were allegedly abducted by members of an outlawed action committee in Rawalkot, according to official sources.

Authorities claimed the group resorted to violence after its protest sit-in in Rawalkot received little public support. Officials alleged that after the failed demonstration, members of the banned committee started taking the law into their own hands and tried to spread unrest.

The police identified the abducted officials as Selection Grade Constable Shahid Shafiq, Selection Grade Constable Muhammad Sagheer, Constable Muhammad Ishtiaq and Constable Zeeshan Ishaq.

According to officials, the four officials were allegedly intercepted and abducted when they were on their way from their home to Rawalkot to attend duty. He is reportedly still being held by members of the banned group.

Officials further alleged that the same group had earlier abducted an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), severely tortured him, and was also involved in the attack on the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

The police are yet to announce further details regarding the efforts to recover the kidnapped officials.
