APNS welcomes the appointment of Raisa Adil as Principal Information Officer.

ISLAMABAD – All Pakistan Newspapers Society has welcomed the appointment of Raisa Adil as Principal Information Officer of Press Information Department.

APNS President Senator Sarmad Ali and Secretary General Muhammad Athar Qazi have expressed hope that Ms. Raisa Adil will protect the freedom of press and solve the problems of print media during her tenure as Principal Information Officer. He is confident that the print media will continue to enjoy good relations with the PID and the government during his tenure.

APNS officers acknowledged the services of the outgoing PIO Mr. Mubasher Hassan and appreciated the support and cooperation provided to the print media during his tenure.

APNS officials expressed hope that issues related to print media which are still pending will be resolved.

These include the implementation of pre-approved hikes in government advertisement rates, increase in the amount of government advertisements and payment of long arrears so that the print media faces a liquidity crunch.

A day ago, the federal government had transferred Raisa Adil, a BS-20 officer of the Information Group, and appointed her as the new Principal Information Officer (PIO).
