US hits Iran for 8th night Tehran retaliates against Kuwait’s Ali Al-Sallam Air Base.
WASHINGTON/TEHRAN – Tensions remain high in the Middle East as the United States launched airstrikes against Iran for the 8th night in a row, targeting key military infrastructure. Tehran also claims to have attacked US military installations in Kuwait.
The latest overnight operation targeted Iranian coastal surveillance systems, air defense sites, maritime assets and missile and drone storage facilities, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said. The attacks were carried out under the orders of President Donald Trump and are aimed at further reducing Iran’s military capabilities.

The United States attacked units of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which Washington blamed for a July 17 deadly attack on American troops stationed in Jordan. More than 50,000 US troops are stationed in the Middle East as the conflict moves into an increasingly volatile phase.
Iranian officials reported fresh US strikes in Khuzestan and Hormozgan provinces on Sunday morning. BBC Persian quoted officials in Khuzestan as saying that the missile struck an area near Shedigan shortly before 6 a.m. local time, prompting emergency crews to rush to the scene as officials began assessing the damage.
Several explosions were reported from Qeshm Island after US warplanes allegedly carried out another round of attacks. Investigators are assessing the impact and determining whether there were casualties, the agency said, adding that other parts of the island have been hit by missile strikes before.
Iranian media have reported further explosions in Bandar Abbas, Sirk, Hajiabad, Shidegan and Qeshm, although the US military has not commented on the reports and the claims have not been independently verified.

According to the Iranian military, the operation targeted an ammunition depot at Camp Al-Adiri along with Patriot missile defense and air surveillance radar systems at Ali al-Sallam Air Base. Tehran described the operation as retaliation for recent US strikes that it says have targeted civilian infrastructure and residential neighborhoods inside Iran.
Neither the Kuwaiti government nor US officials have confirmed the attacks, and independent verification is not available.
Iran’s embassy in India said seven civilians, including two young girls, were killed in a US strike on a bridge in Bandar Khmer on Thursday. Adding to the chaos, Iranian media reported that a magnitude 5 earthquake struck Khuzestan province, hours after late-night US airstrikes hit several locations in the region.
Amid growing instability, Iraq is considering plans for a strategic oil pipeline from Basra to Kirkuk and then to the Turkish port of Ceyhan, with a possible extension to Banias in Syria. The proposal aims to reduce Baghdad’s dependence on the increasingly volatile Strait of Hormuz for energy exports.
The latest attack in Jordan brings to 16 the number of U.S. military personnel killed since the conflict began, with more than 430 American soldiers wounded and one soldier missing. The first casualties occurred on March 1, when an Iranian drone struck a civilian port in Kuwait, killing six American soldiers. Another soldier died later that day of his injuries during an attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.
On March 12, six more U.S. service members were killed when a KC-135 aerial refueling plane crashed during an operational mission in Iraq. US officials said there was no evidence that hostile action or friendly fire was the cause of the incident. A US Navy pilot was also killed after a helicopter crashed in the Arabian Sea on July 1. Investigators found no indication of enemy involvement.
