Sangrauli – Nidhi Tiwari gathered a huge audience who watched her reels, as she dreamed of a career in modeling and acting. But late last week, 30-year-old Nidhi Tiwari’s online world was found dead at her home in Madhya Pradesh’s Sangruli district.

Investigators are treating the case as a suspected suicide, while the circumstances surrounding her death, including the events leading up to it, are under investigation. At the center of the investigation is a phone conversation she allegedly had with a man named Sonu Singh shortly before her death.

Nidhi went to a room around 8:20 pm after offering prayers. She was reportedly talking to Singh on the phone, with some reports suggesting she was using a Bluetooth earpiece. Family members say that an argument broke out during the conversation.

Reports quoting relatives said that Tiwari later locked himself in the room. Soon after, Singh allegedly contacted his mother and warned the family that Nidhi was in danger. His mother and other relatives ran upstairs. The room was reportedly locked from inside and the family forced it open. Tiwari was found unresponsive inside and was taken to NCL Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police have since begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the final conversation and the events that followed.

Singh has emerged as a key figure in the coverage of the death, although the police have not publicly established that he caused or was responsible for Tiwari’s death. Reports say he is an engineer attached to a company linked to Northern Coalfields Limited. Accounts differ as to his exact background and location, with some identifying him as being from Punjab and others referring to his connection to Delhi.

According to family accounts, Tiwari and Singh had a romantic relationship. Her phone has reportedly been switched off since the incident, and police are trying to track her down as investigators piece together the sequence of events. The exact nature of their relationship and what was discussed during the final call are important to the investigation.

Before his death, Tiwari had built quite a following online. Her Facebook and Instagram accounts are reported to have about 1.6 million followers combined, with about 900,000 on Facebook and over 700,000 on Instagram. Her content mostly revolved around dance tracks, lifestyle and entertainment, and she became a recognizable social media personality in the Vindhya region.

His ambitions extended beyond social media. Tiwari won the title of Miss Pretty India 2024 and was reportedly exploring modeling and acting opportunities with a desire to work in films and music projects.

After news of his death spread, attention turned to Tiwari’s last Facebook post. The post had a message of self-love and finding wholeness within. His words were widely circulated after his death, prompting users to search for the possible meaning behind the message.

But investigators have not publicly proven that the post was a suicide note or that it directly explained her death. This distinction is important: the meaning of a social media post, by itself, cannot establish a purpose.

According to reports citing family information, an elder sister of hers allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well around five years ago. Reports differ on the details of Tiwari’s family background and location. Although some accounts describe him as originally from Varanasi, other recent reports have identified his family roots differently. Her family lived in Sangruli, where she lived with her mother and younger sister.

The investigation is not limited to the statements of relatives. Police are reportedly examining Tiwari’s call records, phone activity, social media activity and other digital evidence along with the statements of people connected to the case.

Police have stressed that the investigation is ongoing and no conclusions should be drawn from initial accounts or social media speculation.
