Murray McDonald’s closed to public during CTO family’s dinner (VIDEO)
Murree – Murree saw an influx of tourists arriving at the hilly destinations before the summer holidays ended. However, some reportedly discovered that going to a popular fast food restaurant wasn’t just about joining the queue. It reportedly depended on who was already inside.
As customers were kept waiting outside a McDonald’s while the family of a senior traffic official ate in peace, Pakistan’s VIP culture has once again been put in the spotlight.

A clip circulating on social media sparked a fresh debate on the alleged VIP culture in Punjab when a man claimed that a McDonald’s outlet in Murree was closed to the public because the family of the city’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) was inside.
The viral footage, which was reportedly recorded on Saturday night, shows people’s families and children waiting in long queues outside restaurants while entry is barred. He also filmed a Hilux parking outside the food outlet with registration plate CH-1001.
The man who filmed the scene said customers were waiting their turn when they approached restaurant staff to ask about the delay. He alleged that the employees told him that the shop was temporarily closed as the CTO’s family was eating inside.
The claim spread quickly on social media, with many users questioning whether influential figures get preferential treatment at the expense of ordinary citizens. The incident has reignited criticism of the country’s longstanding VIP culture, with many demanding equal treatment regardless of status.
The man also appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to investigate the matter and examine whether the footage depicts the events accurately. He urged the authorities to establish the facts and take action if abuse of power or administrative malpractice is found.
Murree’s CTO and the restaurant have yet to publicly respond to the allegations at the time of filing this report, and claims circulating on social media have not been independently verified.
