Babar Azam was injured before the England Test series.

LAHORE – On the second day of the ongoing three-day practice match at the Kent County Cricket Club, Pakistan’s Test captain Babar Azam was injured by a ball on his right hand while batting.

The incident comes ahead of the first Test match against England next week.

Babar has been advised to rest for the rest of the practice match after the team doctor’s assessment and precautionary measures.

Babar will attend the Pakistan team’s practice session at the Headingley Cricket Ground on Monday, August 17.

Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz has been ruled out of the Al Batal Present University of Lahore National Champions Cup due to an injury to his right middle finger, it was confirmed on Friday.

On Thursday, August 13, Nawaz was taken for a scan, which confirmed a fractured finger, keeping him out of action for at least three weeks.

He suffered the injury while fielding for his team Sparco Paints Pakistan Gold against Al Batal Productions Pakistan Blues in a match on 12 August. He completed his quota of 10 overs in the game which Gold lost by six wickets at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

After two weeks, Nawaz will report to the PCB’s sports and exercise medicine department to begin conditioning and progress through the required return-to-play (RTP) protocol under medical supervision.
