No relief, petrol and diesel prices will remain unchanged for 3 days.

ISLAMABAD – Petrol and high speed diesel prices will remain unchanged for the next three days, the current rates will continue till Monday.

The price of petrol will be Rs 325.43 per liter while the price of high speed diesel will be Rs 383.95 per litre.

The decision has sparked concern and frustration among consumers, who have been demanding lower petroleum prices.

Citizens have urged the government to pass on the benefit of the fall in international prices to consumers by reducing domestic fuel prices. He said that meaningful reduction in inflation would be difficult without a reduction in petrol and diesel prices.

Consumers have also demanded immediate relief from the government by reducing the prices of petroleum products.

A day ago, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) chaired by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb approved important decisions related to the petroleum sector in its meeting.

The committee had a detailed discussion on the margins of petrol and high speed diesel dealers. Petroleum Division presented a summary of margin revisions.

The ECC after reviewing the proposal approved the increase in dealers’ margin on petroleum products.

After the approval, dealers’ margin on petrol and diesel will increase from Rs 8.64 to Rs 9.98 per litre.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain, Ali Pervez Malik and Ahsan Khan Cheema, along with federal secretaries and senior officials of relevant ministries.

Earlier, Pakistan Petroleum Dealers had announced the postponement of their planned strike after the petroleum minister assured them of an increase in margins.
