Pakistan assumed the chairmanship of SCO for 2026-27
Of course – Pakistan has assumed the chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for 2026-27, the Foreign Office said.
According to the Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met the Secretary General of the SCO in Bishkek, who congratulated Pakistan on assuming the chairmanship of the organization.
Dar briefed the SCO Secretary General about Pakistan’s priorities and strategy for its chairmanship. The Foreign Office said that the Secretary General expressed support for Pakistan’s priorities and assured full cooperation.
Both sides also agreed to maintain close communication and cooperation between Pakistan and the SCO Secretariat during Pakistan’s chairmanship.
Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch and Shanghai Cooperation Organization Pakistan National Coordinator Muhammad Faisal also attended the meeting.
The parties agreed to continue joint efforts to advance the organization’s priorities during Pakistan’s tenure as the head of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
