England whitewashed Pakistan by defeating them 3-0 in the historic Test.

EDIGBSTON – England completed a brutal 3-0 Test series sweep of Pakistan, winning the final Test at Edgbaston by eight wickets to avoid an early scare and chase down 130 before lunch on Saturday.

The Babar-led squad came to Britain hoping to salvage some pride from the final Test. Instead, they walk away with a clean sweep to their name, unfortunately, not what they were hoping for. The 8-wicket victory whitewashed England in the first home Test series against Pakistan and extended Pakistan’s wait for a Test victory in England by a decade. His last win on English soil was in 2016.

England had done most of the damage before reaching Edgbaston, winning the first Test by an innings and 103 runs and the second by 194 runs. The third match initially looked like another routine England disaster. Then Pakistan finally remembered how to fight back.

Asked to bat first, Pakistan lasted just 33.5 overs before being bowled out for 133 runs. Josh Tong led the England attack with 4-42, while Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer claimed three wickets each.

England then went on to spoil Pakistan’s first innings further, scoring 453 and taking a huge lead of 320 runs. Harry Brook led the scoring with 75, while Jamie Smith scored 69, Dan Lawrence 65, Emilio Gay 60 and Robinson 50. At that time, an innings defeat looked less likely and more like a fixed encounter. However, Pakistan had other ideas.

The second innings for Pakistan started in a familiar fashion, Saeem Ayub and Abdullah Shafiq getting out for no runs. But instead of collapsing completely, Pakistan eventually put up some resistance. Azan Owais scored 59, while Shaan Masood scored 95, falling just five runs short of a well-deserved century.

Babar Azam then added 76, giving Pakistan’s lower order something to work with. And that’s when Razaullah decided the match needed a little chaos.

At just 21 years of age, debutant Razaullah produced a performance that most players would be happy to repeat throughout their careers. First, he took four wickets in England’s first innings, including the prized scalp of Joe Root. Then he picked up the bat and apparently decided that defense was optional.

Coming in at No. 9, Razaullah scored 81 off just 63 balls, clearing the ropes nine times. His strike turned Pakistan’s innings from a potential embarrassment into a real battle. He also shared a crucial 121-run partnership with Mohammad Abbas, who scored a career-best 42 including two sixes.

Pakistan eventually reached 449, forcing England to chase down 130 runs and giving the visitors at least a glimmer of hope.

Razaullah’s nine sixes equaled the record for most sixes by a debutant in a Test innings. According to the ICC, his 81 also became the highest score by a player batting at No. 9 or lower on Test debut.

For a moment, Pakistan looked dangerous. In short.

England’s chase began with exactly the kind of drama Pakistan needed. Veteran fast bowler Mohammad Abbas dismissed Ben Duckett and Emilio Gay for a wicket in the opening over to put England 0-2 down and suddenly give Pakistan’s bowlers something to celebrate.

Joe Root and Jordan Cox, however, had clearly decided that the fun had gone far enough. The pair rebuilt the innings with a composed partnership, although Root survived a major scare when he cut Muhammad Ali on his stumps. The dismissal was overturned because Ali had overstepped the bounds.

Root was duly punished. He scored his 69th Test half-century and in the process reached 1,000 Test runs at Edgbaston. Cox soon joined them past the fifty mark, reaching his half-century with a boundary through deep midwicket off Saim Ayub. It was his third half-century of the home series and another milestone in his budding Test career.

The ending was almost anticlimactic. With England needing only a few runs, Cox drove Mohammad Imran through cover and took a single to complete the victory. Root remained unbeaten on 62 off 69 balls while Cox remained unbeaten on 59 off 76 balls.

Abbas was the only successful bowler of Pakistan who took both the wickets. The rest of the attack saw the chase slip away without adding another breakthrough.

England dominated throughout the series. He won the first Test by an innings and 103 runs, the second by 194 runs and the final by eight wickets. Pakistan’s batting problems were particularly prominent. Their opening pair managed a combined total of just 20 runs in six innings, repeatedly asking the middle and lower order to save losses.

They rarely could. Yet amid the disappointment, Razaullah emerged as an unexpected headline-maker. Four wickets on debut for Joe Root among his victims. 81 runs off 63 balls. Nine sixes. 121-run partnership with Abbas. And a record-breaking performance by a player batting at number 9.
