ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s fuel market is going without higher fuel prices in October as the government has announced fresh cuts in petrol and high-speed diesel prices, although the relief for petrol users is very limited.

Diesel price has been reduced by Rs 1.89 per litre, while petrol has become cheaper by just 14 paise per litre, under the latest revision. The new prices will come into effect from October 1 after a review by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The price of high-speed diesel has come down from Rs 402.24 to Rs 400.35 per litre, saving diesel consumers Rs 1.89. Meanwhile, the price of petrol has come down from Rs 387.54 to Rs 387.40 per litre, a reduction of only 14 paise per litre.

The petroleum division said the updated price movements were necessitated by developments in the international market. The revision takes into account changes in plate rates, premiums, incidental costs and other global factors, which affect petroleum prices under the government’s pricing mechanism.

The newly approved prices are ex-depot prices and will be effective from October 1, 2026, marking the latest monthly adjustment in fuel prices in Pakistan.
